Skyrim Get Npc Weight
You need to export your character data from the Creation Kit to your data folder. Basically the game engine is applying a default body to your char's head 'cause it can't find the relavant data files for matching the body settings to the head settings.Don't feel bad or anything: it's super easy to overlook or not learn becease the way to do it is so left-field.While in the Creation Kit, select your character's entry in the Actor list, press CTRL + F4, click 'yes' in the dialog box that pops up, and you should be good to go. Yes, follow the tutorial here:It may take some slight wrangling in places (the tutorial skips over some little things here and there, but nothing you can't figure out by tinkering), but once you've got it sorted it's easy. One thing to keep an eye out for is that if you're relocating textured custom mesh mods the way the tutorial outlines (from the default folders to the folders you've created for your character's assets), you'll need to open the mesh nifs in NifSkope and change their built-in texture paths to point to the texture files' new location. If you don't do that, the meshes won't render with the intended textures in-game.Open the nif in NifSkope, and look in the Block List frame on the left hand side of the program window for something like this:-NiTriShape-LightingShaderProperty-ShaderTextureSetSelect the ShaderTextureSet entry, and look in the Block Details frame at the bottom of the window for an expandable 'Textures' entry. Right-click on each texture path listed, and browse to the same texture in its new folder to change it. Then double-click on the new texture path, and delete everything before 'textures' (look at the default paths of the textures fefore changing to see what I mean).
You need to do this for all relocated textures for any relocated mesh. This can be tedious if your NPC uses a lot of custom meshes for face/body/costume/etc, but it's worth it IMO in order to create characters that are a little more individual.
Target npc (don't target anything for player) and type Setscale # for height (1 being default) And I think setnpcweight # for weight (1-100 lean - bulky) Fun fact high elves are defaulted to Setscale 1.1. There is also sexchange command, have fun.

Set their weight to 1002.
Set their body size to 30 and save your mod.If you already have a mod with your custom NPCs:1. Set the weight of each to 100 but do.not. save2. STRG+F4 each one3. Do.not. save your mod, so your NPCs keep their original weight.Should work fine then, at least with vanilla models, no idea about stuff like CBBE.

It was a great relief for me, because those transparent necks were really annoying. The reason seems to be that the mesh export creates a thinner neck at lower weight, while the game itself always uses the same weight=100 neck size regardless of actual weight. Probably they first used different neck sizes in development (which the mesh exporting still does), but at some point chose to use the same neck size for everyone (which the bodies in the final game do).Hope that helped you.

The occasion that brought the question up for me is custom body that I just made for my femal NPCs in BodySlide2. Because I like variety but shun the effort to set up Every Body's Different, I made it so that body weight '0' is very skinny and '100' is quite voluptous.
Now all the female NPCs I ve seen so far have been quite equal in appearance. Id like to know how weight is distributed among the various NPCs in the vanilla game (and how I can look it up, maybe somehow using CK?). Try it and find out, it may not happen with those mods. Anything that alters the npc weight from what is already baked into a save file can make a gap between the body and head. Sometimes it can be fixed mid game by reseting the NPCs weight via the console to what is in the save file. There was/is(?) also a bug in BodySlide, or perhaps in some peoples methods of using BodySlide, that can cause it.
This one was always a mystery to me and I couldn't find a solution. I make my own now, to my own tastes and they are fine.
