Built-in Digital Still Camera with Memory Stick allows you to store still images in digital format at 640x480 resolution in Sony's new Memory Stick memory. Digital 8 Achieves stunning picture quality, with up to 500 lines of horizontal resolution and records high quality 12-bit digital stereo audio.SteadyShot Picture Stabilization Another thing you don't need to worry about is holding the camcorder perfectly still.
Sony's SteadyShot system uses sophisticated motion sensors to remove unwanted picture shake. 12-bit/16-bit PCM Digital Stereo Audio Recording offers a choice of either a single 16-bit/48kHz stereo audio track for DAT-quality recording, or two 12-bit/32kHz stereo tracks for CD sound quality. To make sure you get the maximum benefit from each charge, Sony's InfoLithium batteries have no life-shortening 'memory effect.' To keep you informed of remaining power, Sony's AccuPower meter spells out remaining battery time in minutes on the camcorder's LCD Monitor or Viewfinder. Super NightShot enables you to shoot subjects up to 3 meters away in total darkness.
That's why Sony cut power consumption and extended battery life. Control L (LANC) provides two-way communication between the camcorder and other video devices. Six Mode Program AE provides quick and easy setting for the proper exposure, shutter, and depth of field setting for a variety of environments. There are six modes: Portrait, Beach/Ski, Sports Lesson, Landscape, Spotlight, and Sunset/Moon. Forget about cables, wires and adapters.
Sony's Super LaserLink system uses infrared light to make a wireless connection from your camcorder to your television. Just use the transmitter in that is built-in to the camcorder together with the optional receiver. The Super LaserLink System features a transmission range up to 8 meters. Buying and using the Sony DCR-320This is one of SONY's finest products. I bought this camcorder because I had used one of these models before.

It works well manually or automatically in light and focus needs It's an older model but supplies are available. It puts out good quality and is easily edited.
It's inputs and outputs are complete, accessible, and are commonly used in computers for editing. Batteries are available that last for over six hours. The external mic gives the availability of wireless microphone to cut noise down. The lens gives a broad range of field. I've used both pro camcorders and consumer models, and would rate this the best for the money. I've shot a play & edited the tape.
It's all I thought it would be, great!. Handy for dubbing old Hi8 tapes.Handy for dubbing old HI8 tapes to DVD or import to computer. Has a DV output (special cable) useful for best image transfer to DVD recorders. Also has R/W/Y output (via 4-conductor mini-plug) and S-VIDEO output. Easy to use even without remote. Will need battery charger, but many Sony handycams use the same style and voltage and plug chargers, so you might already have one.
I bought this camera as a backup to the one I already have, for if/when mine gives up the ghost.Verified purchase: Yes Condition: Pre-owned. Great 8mm Video Transfer CamcorderMy 8mm video recorder died sometime in the last 20 years, so I needed something to transfer the 8mm tapes to digital files. I could have bought a regular 8mm camcorder, and a video digitizer, but by buying an 8mm digital camcorder, I didn't need the digitizer. Using the Sony software, available online, I can transfer videos directly to a PC via firewire, and use other open source software to edit and convert the files to DVDs.
When I am finished with my tapes, I can sell the whole setup and recoup the original costs. This has been a perfect and cost effective solution.Verified purchase: Yes Condition: Pre-owned. Takes a licking and keeps on ticking!Just purchased my second one of these. My original unit still works but, after eight years, is starting to have some issues with the top pad and the power switch. My first unit has not been a closet queen either, having spent many a mile bouncing around the back country of Death Valley National Park. Whether duct taped to the T-top of my Subaru Brat, attached to the bumper of my S-10 Blazer or under 30 pounds of crap in my backpack. And it never failed me.
NOT ONCE!The original battery was a little small for my usage, so I purchased a larger capacity one. Works great, last long time.I purchased my second one, mainly, for parts.
It was listed as such and I had no other expectations of it. Once I swap out the parts I need from my 'parts' unit I plan to use it to record table top re views for youtube. Yes, it works! DV output works great and I don't need it to record as I can do that with my computer via firewire input. When received, it had a tape stuck in it which turned out to be from inside several Georgia State LEO vehicles and has plenty of pursuit footage! BONUS!I'm still in the market for a back-up unit for my DVNP trips and local backpacking trips.
It 'might' be considered by some to be 'too heavy' or 'outdated'. But, after eight years of abuse for my first one, those are not issues for me. Very easy to transfer Video8/Digital8 cassettes to the computer! This was even better than I expected.
I'm using the Camcorder to transfer old Video8 cassettes to my computer. Since this is a Digital8 camcorder, it has a firewire output that digitalizes the video on the fly. That means I can plug this camcorder directly on my computer and transfer my videos without any additional capture hardware. Very cool, money saving and time saving!Other than that, the quality is really good (it's still an old camcorder but I notice no loss).
